Just a scenic two-hour drive northeast of Anchorage, Matanuska Glacier stands as the largest accessible glacier in the United States by car. Offering an ideal day trip destination from Anchorage, Matanuska Glacier provides a firsthand exploration of its terminus.
On the 2–3-hour glacial guided tour, visitors venture onto the ice exploring the glacier’s blue meltwater pools, ice caves (if accessible), diverse ice formations, and deep crevasses. Safety gear such as helmets and crampons fastened to shoes are supplied for a secure and pleasant experience. Total day experience is around 7 hours, includes private transportation and 2–3 hours glacier tour.
Glacier hike times 10am, 11am, 1pm, and 2pm. To make those times, we would depart 2hrs and 45 mins beforehand from Anchorage.
Cancellations
Customers will receive a 75% refund if cancelled 24 hours of date and time of tour. Guests can receive a 50% refund if cancelling within 24 hours of departure. Customers will receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Cancellations can be done by phone 6am-8am / 6pm-9pm AST. Tour operator may be giving tours during the day and unable to fulfill request until times stated. Thank you for your patience! No-shows will be charged full price.
