Monday through Thursday a visit to the iconic small harbor town of Whittier or a drive up into Chugach State Park and other sites around Anchorage will be included.
Experience driving the Seward Highway, one of America’s most scenic drives. Enjoy the Turnagain Arm wonders looking for Dall Sheep, bears, eagles, our beloved beluga whales, and possibly see a Cook Inlet tidal phenomenon called the bore tide. After lunch in Girdwood we’ll visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to view wood bison, bear, reindeer, moose, musk ox, and wolves. Then it’s off to be emersed in the Chugach National Forest discovering Portage Valley.
With our adventure into Portage Valley, you’ll experience the Chugach National Forest, its glaciers, and scenic wildlife viewing areas by self-guiding at stops, reading Chugach National Forest interruptive signs, and learning from Chugach National Forest interpretive staff while visiting the beautiful Begich Boggs Visitor Center. Then if you choose board a ferry named the Ptarmigan for a 1 hour cruise to Portage Glacier. If the group decides to pass on the cruise, we can visit Flattop Mountain in the Chugach State Park for stunning elevated views of Anchorage and the Cook Inlet.
Your private tour from Anchorage to Portage Valley promises an immersive exploration of Alaska’s coastal marvels. Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center entry complimentary of Blueberry Tours.
